What is breathwork?
Breathwork is the practice of modulating your breathing with the purpose of creating a desired feeling or experience.

What can breathwork be used for?
Breathwork is a very handy mindset tool because you take it with you everywhere you go and it works way more quickly for most people than tools like meditation and journaling.
My favorite tool for dealing with excess stress is breathwork. It can help you rid your body of any tension you’re holding onto and it helps you allow everything else in your life to drop away so you can truly be in the moment.
The enemy of stress and anxiety is being present because they both live in the past and the future.
If you’re struggling with productivity and focus on a big project or your energy and motivation just don’t seem to be keeping up a quick breathwork practice can help you get your head back in the game.
Breathwork can also be used to silence all the voices in your head except your intuition. Your highest self. So that you can make decisions that are truly aligned with your soul. Tap into your intuition quickly with breathwork!
Removing stagnant energy is incredibly difficult sometimes because you may not even be aware that they’re there. Our bodies hold onto past traumas and are stored away. Sometimes we naturally shed them over time and other times they stick with us impacting our day-to-day lives.
Using breathwork, you can rid yourself of any painful build-ups from traumatic events by getting the energy moving again and out of you.
Breathwork is a tool to help you shift your mindset. So the only limit on what breathwork can help you with is the ones your mind imposes on itself.
No, breathwork isn’t going to cure cancer or radically make your life picture perfect. It is a tool to help you change your mindset so you can rid yourself of all the negative thoughts you don’t want and start making space for everything you do want!
How to keep building on your breathwork practice
After trying out all the different techniques we went through during the series you should have at least a few that truly seemed to resonate with you. Continue using those.
The more you practice the easier it is to reach your desired mindset. It’s like muscle memory, but for your feelings.
Each time you practice breathwork to lower your stress your body will be able to find that feeling of calm and peacefulness more quickly.
The more often you quiet your mind to hear your intuition the more clearly and loudly it will be.
Your muscles are not the only thing that has memory. If you want less anxiety, more clarity, or increased focus you need to strengthen your ability to get there!
I can’t recommend journaling after each practice session enough. Journaling after each of my sessions allowed me to put together patterns and see changes in my mindset I otherwise wouldn’t have noticed.
You can keep track of your experiences in your free reflection journal. Download it now!
Practicing breathwork before journaling or meditation is also just a freakin’ fabulous way to quiet your mind so you can be completely present while doing either. I know a lot of people struggle with quieting their bodies and minds the first 10 minutes of meditation and breathwork is like a hack to jumpstart that!
Anytime you want to use your breathwork practice to dive further into your true self you can simply ask your intuition what you need to do next and wait for an answer.
You already have everything you need inside of you to heal and aid you on the journey that is your life. You simply need to learn how to activate it.
I SO hope you enjoyed learning all about my favorite mindset tool, breathwork! I know I loved writing about it.
Breathwork has changed my life and brought me a level of peace and happiness I never thought was possible for myself. The greatest thing I can do in the world is to share that with others.
I plan to keep sharing different breathing practices for different purposes like binge eating and eating disorders, creativity, fitness, and more!
In the meantime, join the BuddhaBelly BreathWork FB Group to talk with others about breathwork and get access to virtual breathwork sessions that are for the group only!
